Welcome to the first full length episode of Divi Nation, the official Divi podcast, season two. As we talked about last week this episode is shorter than last season’s full-length episodes. In fact, with a total run time of thirty six minutes and fifty seconds it’s roughly half the length!

Hopefully, this will make it easier for more members of the Divi Nation to stay current on this season’s episodes and participate in the conversation. Which, in this episode, is with David Bisset.

David is a long-time WordPress developer, WordPress Core contributor, and BuddyPress contributor. He is also one of the founding organizers of WordCamp Miami which is taking place next weekend in–you guessed it–Miami, Florida.

We talk about that, and a lot more, in today’s episode.

In today’s episode David Bisset shares his WordPress story, talks about what makes a good designer-developer collaboration, and tells us what we can expect to see at WordCamp Miami.

I hope you enjoy our conversation as much as we did. And if you’d like to make sure you can easily watch or listen to future episodes of Divi Nation (as well as our entire archive), please take a moment and use one of the subscription options we’ve provided below.

WordCamp Miami Details

WordCamp-Miami-2016

This year is the 8th annual WordCamp Miami. The event is happening next weekend, February 19-21, at Florida International University.

There will be three all-day workshops to kick things off on Friday: Beginner’s 101 Course, the Freelancer’s Workshop, and BuddyCamp Miami.

Then, starting bright and early Saturday morning and running through Sunday evening, a staggering twenty one WordPress talks will be given and experienced. Covering everything from WordPress security, to SEO, community, comments, and so much more.

You can find the full schedule here.

I’ll be covering the event on behalf of Elegant Themes and hopefully recording some future episodes of the Divi Nation Podcast from the conference.

If there is a particular presentation you’d like me to check out or person you’d like me to talk to leave me a comment below and I’ll do my best to do it and share what I learn.

Are You Attending Any WordCamps This Year?

Hopefully this WordCamp will be the first of many I attend this year. If you plan on being at this one or any others please let us know. I’d love to meet up and learn more about how you use our themes and plugins as well as what we can do to make your WordPress experience better.

  1. Hey! What are the songs used on this episode?
    Cheers!

    • I forget the names of the song used at the beginning and end. I believe we purchased it from audiojungle. The other song, played at the end of the interview is called Late Night and it was purchased from Tunefruit.

  2. Devin Walker’s presentation ‘Using Third Party Code to Create Unique and Meaningful Solutions’ would be my suggestion to try and capture.

Also, Nile Flores, ‘How to Get the Most out of Yoast SEO’ would be a good one.

    Thank you.

    • Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll do my best to check these out 🙂

  3. Great podcast guys, enjoyed watching it til the end!

  4. Hey Nathan,

Great to see Divi Nation back!! I’m attending WordCamp Belfast hopefully this year. In fact, I am one of the organisers. It’s the first time WordCamp has ever happened in Northern Ireland and we are working on one for Dublin in the Republic of Ireland next year.

    • That’s awesome Simon! I don’t think crossing the pond is in the cards for me this year but maybe you could use some hashtags like #DiviNation and #ElegantThemes to keep the rest of the community in the loop on what goes on at WordCamp Belfast this year?

      • Hi Nathan,

Would love to. Official hastags noted ?

  5. Great news, thanks nathan!

    • Are you going to be at WordCamp Miami?
