Welcome to Day 25 of our Divi 100 Marathon. Keep tuning in for 100 days in a row of awesome Divi resources as we count down to the amazing release of Divi 3.0 on the final day of the series!

In this episode of Divi Nation we begin a series of internal interviews with the Elegant Themes Design and Development team. During the Divi 100 Marathon, as we count down to the release of Divi 3.0, we thought it would be a great time for the community to meet the people responsible for creating the theme we all use and love.

These interviews are not necessarily done in a particular order, basically just who on the team could sync up with me on a give week to chat. For our first interview, I spoke with Thierry Muller, a relatively new member of the team who has joined us remotely from Switzerland. Enjoy!

In this conversation Thierry and I get into a wide range of subjects including his WordPress and web development story, joining the Elegant Themes team, and working towards the future of Divi. Ultimately things always come back around to Divi itself and the work going into Divi 3.0 to make it our biggest and most anticipated release yet.

I hope you enjoy this conversation and if have any questions for Thierry please leave them in the comments section below.

  1. Wow, excelent web for themes, nice

  2. When can we have a layers slider tape on divi ?

  3. As a complete “Divi” newbie, about four weeks now, I just watched this, my first Divi ‘podcast’ experience, what a fantastic introduction to the Divi Nation!
Thierri Muller is precise, erudite and completely open about his experiences – (loved the Cape Town mention btw, I’m in Hermanus just “Over the Mountain”!) – we’re so looking forward to 3.0, and this cast has “fired me up” to go a lot deeper into the whole wordpress/Divi development/design aspect to take our clients well into the 21st Century and beyond! BUYA BOTA!

  4. Great interview! I’m a huge fan of the UIKit front-end framework, and this is the first I’d heard about Thierry Muller’s Beans theme for WordPress. Downloading it now to check it out–it looks fantastic.

And the developer release (and accompanying documentation) for Divi 3.0 is very exciting news indeed!

  5. Was worried that Divi 3.0 was scrapping the back-end editor and replacing it with the front-end editor, this podcast put my mind at ease stating both would exist, great news and another great podcast… ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. When can we have a layers slider tape on divi ?

  7. Great podcast, relieved my mind about the back end not changing completely when 3.0 is released.

It’s great that we can slowly transition to using the new front end but still be able to fall back on our training with the same back end builder tools.

  8. Nice pod cast all, it was actually easier to follow for me then the live interviews…anyway, am wondering about the differences, if any, that there will be between Visual Composer’s front-end building system and Divi 3.0’s?
Having used VC for a long time has made using Divi difficult for me BECAUSE of the lack of the front end ability…

    • I would say the DIVI one will be faster.

  9. What a coincidence, my last couple of client projects were built with Divi and I’m about to wrap up a personal project built with Beans! Love them both. It’s nice to learn a little more about Thierry. I’m looking forward to the 3.0 release and super excited to hear that there’s a developer release in the Divi pipeline!

  10. Wondering why you don’t have previous post and next post links on your blog? Wouldn’t it make your blog more user friendly and this series much easier to read?

    • actually this is a feature that we would need into the photogallery in divi as well ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • You’re right it probably would help. We’re overdue for a blog re-design. Thankfully it’s on our agenda in the semi-near future. After Divi 3.0. In the meantime, you can always use our Divi Resources category which makes finding all of the posts in this series quite easy.

      • I wish to have it as default post on Divi too. It only possible with builder but I don’t want to use builder on every posts.

  11. I am loving this format – the longer more indepth ones are great but this one was absolutely on the money in terms of getting straight to the point and such exciting news for all as well – just wow!

    • Thanks for the love Andrew! It was definitely an interesting way to produce an episode, lol. I’m in the process of looking for a better alternative to Skype and ecamm call recorder. That combination is just not dependable for what we’re trying to do. Unfortunately the other solutions I’ve come across in that space are equally poor options ๐Ÿ™

      • Friends don’t let friends Skype and drive. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m a big fan of Google Hangouts. It has a few built in tools that lets you place text over screen. If you do a live broadcast, it can be recorded on Youtube but I think they still have a 15 minute limit. Which should be fine since most of your interviews are close to that range. You could always make it a two part interview and download your videos too combine them and repost. Or just use your external recording software.

That said, not knowing exactly what your issue is with your solution, I’ve been having trouble with the connection (screen freezes) with my overseas friend who lives in Germany. We realized that while our download speeds are great, the slower upload speed in Xfinity’s asynchronous set up might be the culprit (125 mbps Down / 11 mbps Up). I’m planning to switch to a provider like Verizon FIOS with their synchronous (50 Down / 50 UP) to see if that solves the problem. I have always known that asynchronous configurations is best suited for Consumers of content and synchronous is best for Creators of content.
Another trick I use is when video conferencing, I cut off the Wi-Fi and just hard wire (ethernet) my computer to the modem. Totally eliminating and any lag issue with Wi-Fi.

      • Give Zoom a go, we are loving it. ๐Ÿ™‚
