I’m here to give you a sneak peek at a feature coming soon to Divi 5. With Divi 5’s foundation complete, we’re now focused on aggressive feature development, with new features in the works as part of the Divi 5 feature swap.
Every time we finish a feature, we start working on a new one, and every time we start working on a new feature, I’m going to tell you all about it!
Last week, we released Advanced Units, and the team involved is already working on their next project: Nested Rows.
Rows inside of rows! It’s a simple idea but an important first step in creating a more flexible layout system for Divi 5.
Get all the details in this video. 👇
Divi 5’s Flexibility And Nestability
In Divi 4, there is a limitation regarding the nestability of elements. The old shortcode-base framework couldn’t handle it, but that’s no longer true in Divi 5. We built Divi 5 to be incredibly flexible, which opens up many opportunities for new features.
Fortunately, that means nested rows will fall right into place.
Infinitely Nested Rows
Soon, you will be able to add rows inside of rows, unlocking new layout structures. When you click the plus button inside a column, you won’t limited to adding modules; you can add rows too.
That’s the feature: simple in its explanation but far-reaching in its implications.
With the ability to nest rows, you won’t be limited to Divi’s core set of row structures, and you will be able to craft new layouts that previously weren’t possible with Divi’s specialty sections, which are limited in scope.
To illustrate the concept, Here is an example of a 2-column row nested inside another 2-column row as viewed in wireframe mode.
This Is Just The First Step
It’s important to note that this is only the first step towards a more capable layout system for Divi 5. A future update will introduce a new flexbox-based grid, flexbox controls, and the deprecation of specialty and fullwidth sections. With infinitely nestable flexbox rows, the sky’s the limit!
Significant changes are coming, but that’s a sneak peek for another day. 😉
Let us know your thoughts or if you have any questions. I’d love to know if you are enjoying the blazing-fast pace at which we are releasing new features. Are you a believer in the Divi comeback? Is 2025 really the year of Divi 5?
Let me know in the comments.
Have You Tried Advanced Units?
In case you missed it, check out my video from last week announcing the release of Advanced Units.
It introduces support for all CSS units, variables, and functions, such as camp() and calc(), making designing responsive websites with fluid typography easier than ever.

Many More Features Coming Soon
Before you go, I have a favor to ask. We are on a mission to leapfrog the competition in 2025 with dozens of new features, and we want you to know about all of them.
That’s why you must subscribe to our YouTube channel, as it’s the primary way we spread the word (in addition to the Divi newsletter). Over 50% of our viewers keep returning to read and watch these updates but aren’t subscribers. If that’s you, consider clicking the subscribe button and following along as Divi makes its comeback.
All it takes is one little click. 😁
We will fill this year with feature announcements and sneak peeks you don’t want to miss. Stay tuned, and I’ll see you for another sneak peek, which I promise is right around the corner.
“All these new features are fantastic, but we urgently need to use Divi 5 as soon as possible.
The biggest issue we’re facing is the extreme slowness of the current version, and this cannot be delayed any further. The sluggish performance makes our work much less efficient.
The key features to reintroduce/reimplement should be search & replace, extend style, reset style, and then WooCommerce. It would be better to focus on other things only afterward.
Right now, what we’re waiting for most is speed. The current version struggles severely with complex pages—Divi 4 is under heavy strain, making the builder experience very cumbersome compared to Divi 5.
I hope you’ll prioritize releasing the current version and postpone new features for a later stage
We’re prioritizing the features we think are most the important for the most people. That means we thought Nested Rows was more important than Find And Replace, for example.
Our goal is to make Divi 5 as good as possible as quickly as possible. We’ll do it all, one step at a time.
You can choose to use Divi 4 or Divi 5 depending on your preferences.
This is going to be good! I’m already building on 5.0. I would suggest creating some deeper tutorials on advanced units, and how they can be used for padding, spacing, and all the other great stuff. This is next level for many of your users, so remember to educate them a bit as you go.
Indeed! We have much content coming to the blog about each new feature. Stay tuned.
Thank you and thank you! This is one of the main design limitations of DIVI and introducing Flexbox will be a big leap in the same direction.
There remains a deep integration with dynamic data, to represent it (loops) as 60-70%% of new sites nowadays need this kind of integration for dynamic data.
Nick –
This is f’ing amazing. I’ve always loved the Divi experience and the ET ethos. Don’t call it a comeback — you were always here!
Punching up is more fun. 😁
Hey Nickster,
Truth be told – it’s a bit too fast! But don’t let me slow you down ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .
I’m really looking forward to extension vendor adoption. Please help them.
Also, I think our user-base could use some training help. After Divi 5 launch consider “Divi Campus”. A place where you can train us how to use the tech features you’re adding to Divi – we’ll pay for it too.
I’ve been dreaming of that feature since I was born! 🙂
I wish there was more documentation on understanding how to migrate our plugins to Divi 5.
also, it’s sad that the DonDivi has been locked on Divi 5. They show work in backward compatibility mode. I bought it and find it useless because I can’t even use it in the most basic way.
Keep up the good work! Divi forever!
Improving backward compatibility mode is a priority.
We now have a team dedicated to it in preparation for the Divi 5 Beta launch. We want to do everything possible to ease the pressure on third-party developers because they need more time.
Do we have any idea when Divi 5 will be launched? I feel like I’ve been hearing updates for a year to 18 months. Is there a tentative launch date you’re aiming for?
It’s available today. You can download it here. While still in the alpha phase, it’s a production-ready product. You can use it to build new websites if you prefer the experience to Divi 4. However, we don’t recommend upgrading existing websites yet.
It will be officially released when we finish a few more features, including Woo modules, which are needed to ensure all existing websites can upgrade to Divi 5 without losing functionality.
So great to have this, great update
Really great job! I believe in Divi 5 😉
I hope there are lot of resources working on the Divi 4 to Divi 5 updater…. I hate the Divi 4 reloading bug! I hope to see some progress also in there SOON!
Hi, Nick. Both features are fantastic. We are still waiting for the flexbox and payment gateway modules by default.
Flexbox is coming next!
Soooo excited about this!!! 🥳
very cool new feature for web design abilities …. thank you!
I am confused though. I purchased what I thought was ” get everything” as time goes on? I’ve been very ill over the last ten years …. just recovering from a long coma and would like to use Divi as my platform to try and get things rolling again. So where do I learn how to use Divi to get started while getting all these great bonuses?
THANKS AGAIN!!!!
Been developing a new site in Divi5 – just a GREAT experience. Can’t wait for that experience to flow to sites with 3rd-party plugins. I’ve always preferred Divi to other builders, but I’ll be VERY glad to put Divi4 in the rearview mirror. These nested rows will be a serious game-changer!
Delighted to see the nested row feature. Finally a way to customize block quotations to have parenthetical references nested beneath them. Hoping you also have a way to get rid of those tacky annoying vertical lines on the left side of quotations. The nesting feature allows simulation of standard essay formats. Also, does it allow embedding an image in the upper left corner of a paragraph whereby the text would wrap around it?
Love it!
Hi Nick. Loving all the new features, especially Nested Rows!
But… any ETA on the remaining features from Divi 4—specifically all the WooCommerce support?
Woocommerce essential
This is excellent and will certainly make an easier system for ‘beginner level’ Divi users to understand instead of needing to choose from Regular, Specialty, or Full Width sections. When I train users on how to update content in Divi 4 this has always been a bit of a long winded explanation.
One area I often see Divi criticized is in poor scores it receives in out of the box Accessibility. I know this is on your radar as I have heard you mention it before and I am confident it will be one of the upcoming sneak peaks!
Nested rows has been a long awaited feature that will help a lot. A Divi layout builder for the accordion / tabs would be useful and having a range of header / footer template layouts to choose from that are switchable between. Not a big fan of the new Divi 5 interface colours so a choice of classic or new or to be able to save your editor theme style would be nice.
Divi comeback…I missed it leaving! Very exciting with this addition and the flexbox capabilities. Very awesome, very impressed, keep going Team Divi!
Yes. Needed this for a while. Always avoiding to use specialty and fullwidth sections to keep everything simple. Native modules into modules would also be a great addition that is always requested. Like adding image module inside a toggle, these kind of things. I always try to avoid third party plugins or additional code to do those things that are supposed, in my opinion, to be easy and built-in.
A big part of all this is that most client want to be “self-sufficient” when we deliver a site (wheter or not they will really be). it’s often part of the initial mandate so the more we can do with built in stuff, the more I’m happy.
Right Click / Paste Above or Paste Below
This would help me a lot. I really dont like having to duplicate an item to be able to Paste above it and then delete the one from above. Thanks!
this is just…………everything! The amount of time I will save because of this is next level!
