Blog / WordPress / 11 Best Multipurpose WordPress Themes in 2024 (Ranked)

There are plenty of niche-specific WordPress themes out there. If needed, you can easily find themes dedicated to specific topics like education, travel, and more. But what if you want something a little more flexible? That’s where knowing and finding the best multipurpose WordPress themes come in.

You can use multipurpose themes across a vast array of verticals. That means you can invest in one multipurpose theme and use it over various personal or client projects.

But nowadays, everyone and their mother are calling their themes multipurpose. So, how can you separate the wheat from the chaff? Easy – with this list of the best multipurpose WordPress themes.

What Makes the Best Multipurpose WordPress Themes?

While choosing what I think are the best multipurpose WordPress themes, I focused on a few critical criteria:

  • Sales/download numbers (when available): I view it as a positive when a theme is popular. It usually means a more vibrant community and indicates that the theme will continue to receive support and updates.
  • Reviews/star ratings (when available): Good ratings are always positive.
  • Adherence to modern design standards: that is, things like following responsive design principles, modern aesthetics, etc.
  • Ease of using it as a multipurpose theme: When multipurpose themes include templates or demo content, it is easier to use the theme across various niches. If a multipurpose theme takes lots of hacking to use, what’s the point?

How to Make a Responsive Website in 2024 (No Coding)

Posted on November 9, 2024 in WordPress

Is your website not performing well on mobile devices? Poor layout or slow loading times can cause users to leave your site before they even engage with your content. In today’s mobile-first world, a responsive website is no longer just an option—it’s a necessity. Whether you’re...

  1. My friend suggested I try the Kadence theme for my website (LearnAboutCat), so I gave it a shot. I have to say, I’m really impressed! The theme is not only lightweight, but it also responds quickly. It has even surpassed my expectations in terms of how well it performs.

  2. Nowadays there are plenty of wordpress themes, but while choosing which one is the best theme. The answer will be the provided themes by you are the best as they seem to be fit in the criteria. Thanks for listing out the themes.

  3. Awesome list! I’ve tried about half of these before, but where’s Divi at? 😛

  4. Therese still a few things I would like to see in Di vi
After Divi, it was like working in a coal mine.

  5. I think this post is absolutely brilliant. Post a bunch of multi-purpose competitive and popular themes and wait for the trolls to whine that their theme wasn’t listed and, as you guessed correctly, their theme is “far superior” to the rest mentioned in your post. Then as smart product managers, you’ll review the mentioned and lauded themes and add them to your theme feature competitive analysis. Love it! Great research strategy Elegant Themes!

  6. Half of the presented Themes use visual composer it’s awful! Do not think that Themes with visual composer can do to claim leadership!

  7. Ive been an Elegant themes member for a few years but found a lot of the themes a bit clunky and needed a fair amount of work to customise for what I wanted so used Avada for some of my bigger clients. I am currently in the process of converting all of the Avada sites to Divi now as I find it faster to adapt and the final websites run faster, Avada has got too bloaty and to be honest a lot harder work than building with Divi. Add in Divibooster and the work flow is a lot easier. Theres still a few things I would like to see in Divi (one click Align text box left/right in sliders. Remove side bars in Woo product pages) but I have code for them.
Still I am happy to buy more licences for clients sites rather than Avada (yes I have a developer licence but if theres no payment for the developers then the theme will stagnate)

  8. Hi Brenda Barron,

Thank you so much for sharing this awesome Theme list. I already used Avada, X-theme for my client website. I think enfold theme also good one.

  9. Are any of these theme compatible with elementor? I really wish these authors were just to sell them on their own website because they look really nice. Their affiliate program needs alot of work :/

    • Generate press is. Divi also plays nice with elementor 😉

  10. For me it’s the same argument as why use a Mac when a PC is so much cheaper – it’s the support. With Divi I get prompt support and there’s a phenomenal community to interact with.

  11. ladies & gentlemen, let’s be honest, many of those mentioned themes are not popular, this post is misleading! themes like GeneratePress & Smart Passive Income Pro Theme + Genesis Framework with Elementor as builder are popular nowadays & reviewed as the best combination for any project, period. that’s why sir nick & his team of Elegant Themes are trying their best to improve all their themes & builder to catch-up or beat those themes & builder. period.

  12. Hi,
Sorry but anybody can cut & paste info and list some themes… GeneratePress,
Customizer and the new 2017 theme are all wonderful and free with good support and should be mentioned. I would like to see some real theme testing not a bunch of sales words.

    Thank You anyway..
    Mel

  13. I have used Divi on two projects, and tried to use Oshine on one.
Oshine did not work for me. The Interface is very dark, type very small, and the contrast too low. After Divi, it was like working in a coal mine.
On a positive note, they do have good support. (Except the last question I asked – twice – never got answered.)
I am not saying it won’t work for the next guy, but for me the negatives outweigh the positives.

  14. Basically right, However, not mentioning the Weaver Xtreme that can be downloaded for free from WordPress, is truly skipping one of the best free multipurpose WordPress themes around.

  15. I’ve used Divi a lot, but want to try something new for my next big project. I just can’t make a decision between Bridge, BeTheme and Uncode. Finding it hard to pick one over another, they all have really good reviews but would appreciate some advice from anyone who has used any of these themes?

    • Look at webflow.com

    • Go with Bridge Theme

      • Thanks for the advice. I really like Divi, but it lacks in a few areas that I’m hoping Bridge will deliver. Is Brigde support pretty good?!

        • They generally reply within 24hr

  16. I also was expecting to se Bridge also… This is the only theme I use now. They’ve just released version 11 (And sometimes fall back to Divi).

Want to use Divi more because of my subscription but have found Bridge to solve all my problems.

  17. These themes are too expensive. I also have clients that want to sell stuff and need an listing theme. Something more affordable. It’s why I don’t use The software, I hard code it.

I am a retired guy, playing with computers! It’s fun for me! Don’t want these fancy pics, simple websites.
For Hobbyist, guy with a sport fetish, car collection with stuff to get rid of, but not alot.

  18. You must be Kidding!!! No Bridge Theme or Salient Theme in that list, all these themes like the fox and other themes are clones of Bridge and Salient.
